What’s the Indonesian Word for ‘White Girl? – Bali, Indonesia

Whatever it is that’s about the theme of the trip.  I swear everyone keep laughing at us for some reason or another….  take today for example.  So we rented 2 scooters…  and then told the guy we didn’t know how to ride them.  After getting scolded and laughed at for not having any form of identification on us (for when we crash — we went back and got our passports).  Then laughed at our test drive down the strip…..  so there’s apparently a learning curve with these things.    Not so good,  we inherited two Indonesian dad’s that took us to some empty field in the middle of a school yard to teach us how to ‘drive.’  The kids going to school even laughed!  I too was laughing, though, when on my fifth time around the circle aims was on 1/2 a circle.  So our ‘dad’s’ took away one of our scooters and two girls, one scooter (me driving, amy on back) went off on an adventure.

We got quite the looks – some laughs, some points, some whistles, some welll….  more laughs.   okay, seriously i only put the helmet on backwards once (ooooops!)

Ooooh yes and apparently here in Indo the thing to do is to have 1 adult, 4 children to 1 scooter.  1 helmet…  the adults.   A 6 month old on the front of a scooter?  why not?!?  I want one of these things when i move to puerto rico though!

And then there was yesterday…  went surfing.   actually not too much laughing we did fine and had a blast.   but somehow we attract attention and random indo’s taking random pictures of us, with us, very strange i’m still unclear on why since we are definitely not the only girls on this beach and we do not really surf.  really i can get up and that’s it.

Day before… after departing Sanur with one more person in tow we had a driver take us to Ulu Watu, Jimbaran for lunch and Tanah Lot.  This place is seriously gorgeous!!!  Recommended to all.

Tomorrow we’re off and so sad about it!  Time has flown and everything has gone just as smooth as can be expected when you don’t plan a darn thing before you get here.  In retrospect, I’d have done it exactly the same way.  We’ve had quite the time and quite the experiences.  Upload pics when i get home!

Cheers!  Kates
